Lectures

Lectures

I am currently offering four lectures that have proved very popular.

All the topics in these talks can be adjusted to accommodate your groups needs and requirements

Designing for Embroidery

Lecture 1

Follow over 90 slides about how to create your own designs

From traditional hand work to free motion embroidery.

I show practical examples of how to start a design from a beginner right through to a more advanced level.

I can tailor this lecture to your various groups needs. Would you like to know more about colour, what different

mediums can I use?

This lecture has been really popular with Various Embroiders Guild & textile groups

as it covers so many techniques and ideas.

I have received fantastic feedback from this lecture.

Designing for Landscape Embroidery

Lecture 2

Following on from lecture 1 I realised there was a need for a specialist talk specifically about landscapes

I have received fantastic feedback from this lecture and many people have gone on to have greater confidence on how to create a landscape.

I have broken the design process down and explain each of these down in detail.

My textile journey

Lecture 3

This is my latest lecture and came about as so many groups have just asked me to talk about my textile journey.

I include samples and stories from my Royal School of Needlework days, my art college days and the influences that the V&A has had on my textile journey.

I include my teaching work from schools and community projects that I have either worked on including the last project the Jubilee collage that was funded by the Arts council of England.

Also the journey of the Heroes Quilt project that I put together and published a book about during the Convid-19 pandemic

The Heroes Quilt

Lecture 4

This project I put together during the first lockdown of the convid-19 pandemic

I was asked by the Embroiderers Guild to deliver a talk about this project and it was very well received.

I have a wonderful presentation including guest speakers and it is all about peoples Hero during the first lockdown of 2020.

I went on to publish all the stories that went with the embroidered creations they made into a book and all profits go to the `NHS Charities together.

Although the pandemic is over we will never forget and the stories seem to have more relevance now than ever.
